About

Blaine Dunkley is a New York City & Montana based Cinematographer, Steadicam Operator, Drone Pilot & Director. He was the Director of Photography on the pop-surrealist noir thriller 'The Blue Rose', the Netflix documentary series "Heart of Invictus" with Prince Harry, and his additional photographic work on the acclaimed wildlife crime documentary 'Tigre Gente' was recognized with the Salem Film Festival 2022 American Cinematographer Award. Blaine's collaboration with Andy Sarjahani on the short doc "Wild Hogs & Saffron" took home the audience award at the Academy Qualifying Riverrun Film Festival in 2024 and his highly personal short film 'Week One' -about the oddity of grief that he co-wrote, co-produced, and photographed was an official selection at the 2019 Montana Film Festival. In addition to his documentary and narrative projects, Blaine has cultivated a long list of commercial and music industry clients through his collaborations with VEVO, BBC, Columbia Records, Island, Verve, Nylon, Coca-Cola and Puma.

With a passion for evocative camera work, dramatic lighting, and a keen eye for performance, Blaine fully embraces the concept of the "dramaturgy of the camera." His unique approach to filmmaking extends beyond just crafting textured images; Blaine understands the intricacies of storytelling and the importance of collaboration across all stages of production. With roots in photojournalism and a wealth of experience in documentaries, he excels in modest observational projects leaning on his sensitivity to allow him to create impactful stories with limited resources. On the other end of the spectrum, Blaine's work on larger narrative films, TV shows, commercials and music videos showcases his theatrical flair and formalistic approach. Drawing from his experience as a musician, set lighting technician, immersive event curator, and avid outdoors enthusiast, he brings a sense of fantasy and grandeur to his projects, letting the human performances shine through while balancing production resources effectively and crafting iconic visual tapestries.

Blaine is seeking US theatrical and commercial representation.
